In response to the impact of COVID-19 and natural disasters such as bushfires and floods, the NDIS Emergency and Disaster Management Practice Standard was introduced in November 2021.
This is one of three new NDIS Practice Standards aimed at ensuring that providers have measures in place to maintain continuity of critical supports for participants during emergencies and disasters.
This training will help NDIS providers, managers, coordinators, and anyone involved in emergency and disaster management to understand and implement these new standards.
Our half day course prepares participants to be able to:
- Understand the necessity of an Emergency and Disaster Management Standard.
- Identify gaps and vulnerabilities in current systems.
- Develop effective consultation and communication strategies including:
– Effective stakeholder engagement; and
– Communication strategies during emergencies. - Apply risk management principles to conduct risk assessments and analysis.
- Contribute in the development of plans including:
– Creating Individual Participant Plans;
– Designing Organisation Plans;
– Formulating Emergency Response Plans; and
– Establishing Business Continuity Plans. - Understand the importance of ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement.
